Crows Roost LLC is the property management arm of a small, social-profit development company based in Detroit. Its current portfolio includes 5 households and one guest unit distributed across four properties in three states.
We are differentiated in the field in that all our projects focus on community engagement and developing community assets. We prefer the privilege of maintaining historic inventory and applying permaculture principles to all landscaping. All properties use sustainable materials and methods, often based on architectural salvage and upcycling, and offer edible, medicinal and pollinator gardens.
Many of our projects emphasize community interaction, within our multi-family properties and in the neighborhood: our designs and use embellish private places with informal public spaces. The foundations of community place-making are central to our cause and practice.
Our residents, by definition, are involved in some aspect of community and healing work, whether through study, activism, volunteerism, or employment.
